Ski-like activities in our globe’s desert regions have long ceased to be a novelty. The Sandboard Magazine is meanwhile listing 40 states engaging in this type of sport. With special sand-skiing equipment, designed for simple handling in the Alpine, Telemark and Cross-Country disciplines, snow-free skiing can well develop into a favoured fun attraction. Moreover, given the shorter downhill runs than customary with snow, close-radius sand-skiing (as can be performed with skis contrary to boards) could even increase the fun factor.

To make this sport even more attractive a new concept of clothing is a must. Breathable, sand-repellent and UV-resistant materials could, with a new conceptual approach, be specially designed for the element of sand in the various desert zones.

Even after hours of activity and physical exertion and notwithstanding strain and extreme environments such type of gear should still induce the wearer to continue with the outdoor adventure. I would be happy to bring in the experience gained by my 15-year-long desert familiarity and self-started ski tourism (extreme dune-skiing, like desert crossings, speed-sandskiing and over 4000 dune ascents) for the development of

All variants of clothing elements known to me quickly reach the limits of their stress-taking capacity and also have no attractive design. Moreover, they are far too weighty and inflexible for active sport activities in the earth’s desert regions.

In order to take the development of my sand-sled project further I’m on the lookout for a partner who would be in a position to bring this special form of snow-free sledding to reality. Contrary to skis or boards this equipment can be handled by anyone without special training. Also, body mass, size or age do not play a vital role here.

In the course of my intensive test phases during “Skeleton” sledding I gained valuable insight as to form, supine position, body index, transport, steering properties and – most important – safety and environmental factors. I should be happy to contribute this knowhow and my utility-model rights to the initial series of any successful production.

With professional support I should surely be able to top my own Guinness world record – and would gladly attempt this with the first expertly-constructed sand skis. Why not give your product the perfect platform for global-scale dune-skiing.
